Social networking sites
The four social networking sites I'm most familiar with are Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and recently TikTok. All of which have their own strengths that I use them for.
In the case of Facebook, I primarily use Facebook as a means of communication. The majority of my extended family is in Greece, and they all like to use Facebook to post updates and chat on Messenger. Messenger, in my opinion, is Facebook's best feature and the reason why I still use it today. Some of my friends don't have iPhones, so instead of iMessage, Messenger is a good substitute. Another great feature of Facebook is the marketplace feature in groups. I'm in a few buying and selling groups and have found buyers for sneakers on there before.
I mainly use Instagram to keep up to date with what's going on in my friends' lives. Instagram stories is a very popular feature where people can post pictures or videos of what's going on in their day to day lives, and they only last for 24 hours before disappearing.
Twitter is where I would look for breaking news. The trending feature lets you know whats going on in the world as a whole. There are also all kinds of people you can follow on Twitter to receive regular updates from. For instance, there is an account that tweets out pricing errors they find online. You can turn on tweet notifications and get a push notification to your phone every time they tweet if it's important enough to you.
TikTok is a recently popular social media app where people post short and funny 1-minute videos of themselves. I only check out TikTok for entertainment, when I want to kill some time with some easy laughs. The thing I like about TikTok is that it uses geo-location to promote you videos/TikToks that are funny and relevant to your environment. I can't get enough of the New York memes, and believe it or not, there are also some accounts out there filming educational TikToks.
